3 THINGS TO NOTICE WHILE PICKING A COCONUT SEEDLING FROM NURSERY
Coconut being a perennial tree, the quality of the seedling can have a long term effect on the yield that is expected from trees. It is very important for the farmers to pick good seedlings from nurseries to set up a great plantation. Also very essential to pick seeds from those nurseries with great maintenance. These are the 3 things that you must notice while picking a tree from nursery.
- LEAVES :
A good plant is characterized by it’s leaves. Always pick a seedling which is should have a growth of 6-8 leaves, along with early split on leaf wings.
- ROOTS :
Roots are the most important part of a tree, which should be prepared for the farm. Plant should display good growth with 3-4 roots from the seed, aged up to 8-10 months.
- GIRTH THICKNESS :
As the stem ensures structure and stability to a young palm, it is important to make sure that the thickness of the collar girth is about 10-12cm, when they are 9-12 months old.
